Biography - Lou Stratten

LOU STRATTEN - The Legendary LA children’s musical guru Lou Stratten, has been taking families on spirited musical adventures that are delightfully filled with active participation and loads of fun! With her imaginative and magical music curriculum, be prepared to join in!

She has been the much anticipated subject of two separate articles in the School Library Journal for her award winning debut album “Lou Stratten” and her book “Hello, I’m Sir Frettirick!” and is well known in the book City Baby LA as an excellent entertainer with children. 

Her first Opera coach was with Judith dePaul at Carnegie Recital Hall in New York City and has performed with the New York Gilbert and Sullivan players and the Bell Canto Opera Company. She has co-starred in several TV shows, including a performance with Nell Carter on"You Take the Kids", "Designing Women" and had her first reoccurring role on “Ryan's Hope.” 

In the year 2000, Lou started her own cable show on Adelphia Cable, “The Fretti and Lou Show®” and later was picked up by LA 36, partnering up with her trademarked friend, “Sir Frettirick®” – a lion bear celebrating multi cultural values, our environment, and plain old fashion fun! 

She's been spotted at the Getty Museum, as a Master Storyteller, telling a musical tale of a fête galante for the Getty Center Storytelling series, which is a unique collaboration with Getty Museum educators and curators.  One of her little friends, named Miles (Lionel Richie’s Family) gave her the opening door to recording her first demo.  Devoted to giving and sharing her gift of music, Lou has donated her talents to many special causes.  One of her favorite charitable organizations is the Starlight Children’s Foundation, where she enjoys performing with many of the StarPower Ambassadors.  

She holds her B. A. in Theatre Arts and Music, with Honors from Hunter College the City University of New York. She has completed 2 certificate programs at Santa Monica College - Early Childhood Educator Career Certificate, and Early Childhood Intervention Teacher certificate. She has worked in over 20 preschools, several Libraries and performed at over 600 parties in the Los Angeles area. She is a Member of SAG, AFTRA, CMN, SCWBI.

For Lou, an exciting journey in her continuing spirit of giving, and hoping to make a difference, she has introduced "Fretti" internationally this year.
